October 13

This week we continued to learn about life on the farm.

We used our fine motor skills to scrub the farm animals and strengthened our hands using the squirt bottles  to get the animals clean.

We explored rhythm sticks.

Looked for sign of fall and wondered why the leaves change color.

Explored writing and Farm vocabulary.

This week on the Farm

In dramatic play we have been exploring items you would find at a New England farm stand this time of year. Children are learning that words and pictures have meaning using the visuals to order at the farm stand.

When we arrive each day we practice writing our names and explor writing & drawing.

Puzzles help with students learn spacial relations.  These students are working on a 20 piece farm puzzle.

Students were challenged to build with a friend and try to balance apples up on top. They are also documenting their work on our smart board.

Students are exploring traditional animals that live on a farm while communicating with peers.

Next week we will be discussing our favorite farm animals.

The children and I would love to learn from your experiences.  Please email me any photos of you & your child visiting farms to share with the class.

Show N Tell

Due to the beautiful weather on Thursday 10/5/17, Thursday friends did not have the opportunity to share their show n tell.

All show n tell items are in the show n tell bin waiting patiently for students to return to school.  Please keep in mind when sending in show n tell items a few things:

  • all items should be clearly labeled with  the child's name on the bag that it is sent in.
  • show n tell may not always happen on the day the item is sent to school.  Show n tell requires students to practice calm bodies an listening.  Some days are better than others for students to practice these skills.  As the classroom teacher, I always want to set students up for success and may table an activity, such as show n tell, if they are very excited or need a movement activity.
  • Show n tell may only happen with 2 or 3 students on one day and continue through out the week until everyone has had a turn.
  • Please check your child's folder for when we have show n tell.  Our show n tell with typically have a learning target associated with the item.
Thank you,
Ms Marylin
